The first is the Star Trek episode, "Catspaw," where an alien 'witch' points out that humans have far too many entrances to their minds to keep track of all of them. (As she begins to hypnotize Dr. McCoy by toying with a crystal pendant.)

The second is another mind-control item where you have your subject seated, then touch their forehead with your finger. They should be unable to stand up while this is being done, though I have never tried it.
